Getting started
Ingenico Desk/2600: first setup (battery, Magic Box, power, paper)
The Desk/2600 must have its battery fitted before it is powered, connects through a single USB-C port to either the power supply or the Magic Box breakout (Ethernet, USB-B to a register, USB-A for a PIN pad or modem), and needs a one-hour first charge. This guide gives Ingenico's order of operations, paper spec, and power-off sequence.

Check first
- Is the battery pack connected and installed? Ingenico says printing and 4G/2G will not work without it.
- Is the terminal connected straight to the PSU, or through the Magic Box?
- Which connection will the payment application use: Ethernet (Magic Box), Wi-Fi, or 4G?
This guide takes a new Ingenico Desk/2600 from the box to a powered, printing terminal, in the order Ingenico's user guide specifies. Payment-application and network settings are outside its scope.
Before you start
- Check the box: terminal with paper roll, battery pack, power supply, Magic Box, USB cable.
- Do not power the unit until the battery is fitted. Without the battery, printing and 4G/2G do not work.
- Have the router's Ethernet cable ready if the Magic Box Ethernet port will be used, and any SIM cards for a 4G unit.
Steps
- Put the terminal on a flat surface near mains (and the router, if needed), away from heat, dust, damp, vibration, screens and anti-theft gates. 0 to 50 C operating; charge between 0 and 45 C. Expected: mains and network reachable.
- With the unit unplugged, turn it over, unclip the battery trapdoor, connect the battery until it locks, seat it, close the door. Expected: battery connected; this is required for printing and cellular.
- Fit any SIM or SAM cards now, terminal off, cut corner matching the engraving (SIM 1 / SAM 2, SIM 2 / SAM 3, SAM 1). Expected: cards seated without force, door closed.
- Choose direct PSU or Magic Box. The terminal's only port is a USB-C behind the battery door. For Magic Box, plug the cable in, route it along the cable way behind the plastic wall, close the door without pinching. Expected: cable seated, door closes freely.
- Magic Box rear ports: RJ45 Ethernet to the router; USB-B to a cash register; USB-A (one or two) for a PIN pad, serial converter or USB PSTN modem. PSU into the socket marked PSU, terminal cable into the terminal socket, then fit the clamp. Expected: cables latched and clamped.
- Plug the PSU into the mains and let the battery charge for one hour. Expected: terminal powers on; 50% in about 45 min, full in about 1 h 30.
- Confirm a paper roll is loaded (58 mm x 40 mm thermal). To load: terminal off, lift the rear underside catch, pull the cover, drop in the roll per the diagram, pull paper to the top, close by pressing both upper corners until they click, tear off the first turn. Tear receipts upward to one side. Expected: paper feeds and tears cleanly.
If that did not work
Ingenico's checks: if the terminal does not turn on, check the battery is connected and not fully discharged (a flat battery can take a long time to recover), and connect the PSU. If receipts do not print, check the roll is present and seated, that it is thermal paper with the sensitive side toward the print head, and that the battery pack is connected. To shut down, unplug the PSU, then hold the dot key and the yellow key for one second; to restart, reconnect the PSU, then press the green key.

Stop and contact support if
- The screen flashes "Alert Irruption!": tamper detected, stop and contact support.
- Network, Wi-Fi or APN settings are requested by the payment application: these are not in Ingenico's hardware guide; contact support rather than guess.
- Battery is swollen, damaged or not Ingenico-approved: do not fit it; Ingenico warns of explosion risk.
Contact Allstar support with the serial number, whether the battery is fitted, whether the unit runs direct from the PSU or through the Magic Box, which Magic Box ports are in use, and the payment application in use.
Notes
- The datasheet read is the EUR edition (Feb 2026). A US/Canada datasheet from 2022 exists on ingenico.com but was not read in this pass; port options may differ by region.
- Wi-Fi (with WPS pairing) and 4G with dual SIM are listed as options in the datasheet; joining a network is done in the payment application and is not described in the Ingenico guide.
- Power-off behaviour: the Desk/2600 keeps running on battery when the PSU is unplugged (standby after 40 s, off after 30 minutes of inactivity, a behaviour Ingenico ties to SDK 14.4.1 Patch F or later). To turn it off: unplug the PSU, then hold the dot key and the yellow key for one second. To restart: connect the PSU first, then press the green key.
