Ask Allstar AI about this guide

Check first

  • Is the Wi-Fi icon on the idle screen blinking (not connected) or steady (connected)?
  • Is the router broadcasting on 2.4 GHz with WPA2, and does the network name avoid special characters?
  • Is this a Z8 (keypad only) or a Z9/Z11 (touchscreen)?

This guide connects a Dejavoo Z8, Z9 or Z11 running Dejavoo's Aura terminal software to a Wi-Fi network. The Z8 is navigated with the number keys; the Z9 and Z11 have touchscreens and the same menus are tapped.

Before you start

  • Dejavoo requires a WPA2 network on 2.4 GHz, with a network name that contains no special characters (for example * - @ # !).
  • Have the Wi-Fi password ready. It is case-sensitive.
  • The Wi-Fi icon on the idle screen tells you the state: blinking means not connected, steady means connected.
  • If the terminal asks for a password to enter Utility, that is the terminal's manager password set by your provider. Allstar support can help if you do not have it.

Steps

  1. From the idle prompt, press the green OK key to open the Core Menu. Expected: Settlement, Reports, Favorites and Utility are listed.
  2. Open Utility (Z8: press 4; Z9/Z11: tap Utility). Enter the manager password if asked. Expected: the Utility menu shows Communications.
  3. Open Communications (Z8: press 3; touchscreen: tap Communications). Expected: Local Parms and Remote Parms are listed.
  4. Open Local Parms (Z8: press 2; touchscreen: tap Local Parms). Expected: Modem, Ethernet and WiFi are listed.
  5. Open WiFi (Z8: press 3; touchscreen: tap WiFi), then Scan Network (Z8: press 1; touchscreen: tap Scan Network). Expected: a "WiFi APs Found" list appears.
  6. Select your network, then Configure (Z8: press 2), then Set Password (Z8: press 1). Expected: the Network Key screen appears.
  7. Type the password on the keypad (multi-tap for letters, case-sensitive) and press the green OK key. Expected: the password is saved and you are back on the network's menu.
  8. Press the yellow Backspace key once, choose Connect (Z8: press 1), and confirm Yes (Z8: press F2). Expected: the terminal connects, returns to the idle prompt, and the Wi-Fi icon turns solid.

If that did not work

  • Icon still blinking: re-check the password (case matters), confirm the router is on 2.4 GHz with WPA2, and that the network name has no special characters.
  • Network not in the scan list: move the terminal closer to the router and scan again.
  • To restart the terminal, press and hold the power key on the keyboard and release once it begins to reboot (Dejavoo's quick reference guides). On a Z9 the terminal can also be powered off from the Favorites menu.
  • If it still will not connect, contact Allstar support.

Stop and contact support if

  • The terminal asks for a password you do not have: stop and contact Allstar support. Do not guess.
  • Your network name does not appear in the scan after two attempts and the router is confirmed on 2.4 GHz WPA2: contact Allstar support.
  • Any tamper or security alert: stop and contact Allstar support.

Contact Allstar support with the model (Z8, Z9 or Z11), serial number, your processor, the router's band and security type, and whether the Wi-Fi icon is blinking or solid.

Notes

  • Dejavoo's Wi-Fi guide has no version or date printed; the file was posted to dejavoo.io in June 2025. Menu wording on your unit may differ slightly by software version.
  • The guide covers the Z Line generally. Z8, Z9 and Z11 product pages all list 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; Dejavoo's guide says the router must support 2.4 GHz, so a 5 GHz-only network will not work.
  • The guide references a default terminal password; it is intentionally not reproduced here. Your provider may have changed it.
  • Static IP settings (Set DHCP Mode, Set IP, Set Gateway) exist on the same Configure menu but the guide does not walk through them.
