Ingenico Lane/3000: connections, cable and power options
What plugs into the Lane/3000's single rear port, which cable types Ingenico lists (USB, Ethernet, RS232, USB-powered 12 V), how the unit can be powered, and how to seat it on a stand pole.

Check first
- Does the host (PC, register or POS) expect USB, Ethernet or RS232 from the PIN pad?
- Will the unit be powered by its own 8 V power supply, by Power over Ethernet, or by the host's USB port?
- Is the terminal going on a flat counter, a wall, or a stand pole adaptor?
This guide explains how the Ingenico Lane/3000 PIN pad physically connects to a register or PC, which Ingenico cables exist, how it can be powered, and how it mounts. It does not cover payment-application or processor settings.
Before you start
- Confirm with your POS or payment-application provider whether the PIN pad must connect by USB, Ethernet or RS232. The terminal supports all three through its single rear port, but the host decides which one is used.
- Check the unit version. The Deluxe (modular) version can take optional Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, PoE or camera modules; the Basic (non-modular) version is payment-only with no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, PoE, camera or microSD.
- Have the right Ingenico cable and power source on hand (see step 2 and step 3).
Steps
- Find the single port on the back of the terminal. Power and data both run through it. Expected: one multi-pin connector; no separate Ethernet, USB or power sockets on the terminal.
- Pick the Ingenico cable that matches the host: USB (part 296111170AC, 2 m), USB-powered 12 V (shielded USB cable), Ethernet, or RS232. Each has a terminal plug on one end and a host connector plus a power-supply connector on the other. Expected: an Ingenico cable for the chosen interface. No third-party cables on the main port.
- Pick the power source: the Ingenico 8 VDC 2 A wall supply (parts 296199611 / 296196003), PoE (802.3af) on a Deluxe unit with a PoE module, or host USB at 5 V 0.5 A or 12 V 2 A. Expected: power source and cable match. On 5 V USB, Ingenico disables Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, speaker and audio jack, camera and biometric reader; PoE modules do not work with 5 V USB.
- With the power supply still unplugged from the cable, flip the terminal over, plug the cable into the rear port, then connect the far end to the power supply and the host. Expected: cable fully seated; optionally secure it with two M2.5 x 8 screws.
- Plug the power supply into the mains (or connect PoE or USB power). Expected: the unit starts. There is no power button; connecting or disconnecting power switches it on or off.
- Mount it: slide the unit down onto a stand pole adaptor until it clicks, or place it on a flat surface, wall or customer stand. Keep it at least 30 cm (12 in) from an active security-tag deactivation pad and away from PC monitors and magnets. Expected: the unit clicks into place and the customer can shield the keypad during PIN entry.
If that did not work
- If the unit is dead after connecting, check that the connector is fully inserted into the back, restart the device, and, if you have a second working Lane/3000, swap units to isolate device, cable, POS or power supply. If it connects directly to a host, power the host off and on.
- If Wi-Fi, speaker or camera features are missing, check whether the unit is being powered from a 5 V USB port; those features are disabled on 5 V.
- Any "Alert Irruption!" message means the terminal has detected tampering. Stop and contact support.

Stop and contact support if
- The screen flashes "Alert Irruption!" (Ingenico's tamper message): stop, do not keep using the device, contact support.
- The warranty label on the underside is torn or removed: stop, the warranty is void per Ingenico; contact support before going further.
- You are asked to connect any cable not supplied by Ingenico, or a video/HDMI cable, to the main port: do not; Ingenico says only its own cables may be used on that port.
Contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, whether the unit is Deluxe or Basic, the host interface you need (USB, Ethernet or RS232) and the power source you plan to use.
Notes
- Ingenico's Lane/3000 guide does not use the name "Magic Box"; it describes one rear port for power and communications and a cable specific to the connectivity required. "Magic Box" is the name Ingenico uses for the Desk series breakout cable.
- The user guide prints the display as 2.8 inch QVGA with an 800 x 480 pixel figure; the datasheet says 320 x 240. Quoted here only for reference, not used in the steps.
- The only English-language Lane/3000 datasheet found on ingenico.com during this pass was the older CDN copy, which now redirects. The Spanish Mexico edition was used for the connection table (Ethernet 10/100, USB, RS232, USB power 12 V on Deluxe and 5 V/12 V on Basic, PoE optional on Deluxe only).
- Which interface the PIN pad must use, and any IP or COM-port settings, are set by the payment application and POS integration. This guide covers the physical connection only.
