Ingenico Lane series: terminal shows nothing or will not link to the POS

Ingenico's own isolation steps for a Lane PIN pad that is dark, unresponsive or not talking to the register: check the rear connector, restart, swap units, power-cycle the host, and confirm the power source. Screen prompts such as a waiting-for-connection message come from the payment application and are not covered by Ingenico's guides.

Exact messages this covers

  • Alert Irruption!

Check first

  • Is the screen completely dark, or does it show a prompt from the payment application?
  • Is the terminal powered by its own Ingenico supply, by PoE, or by the host's USB port (5 V or 12 V)?
  • Did it ever work on this host and cable, or is this a first installation?
  • Is a second, known-good Lane unit of the same model available for a swap test?

Use this guide when an Ingenico Lane/3000, Lane/5000 or Lane/8000 is dark, unresponsive, or the register says it is not connected. It follows the troubleshooting section of Ingenico's user guides and stops where the payment application takes over.

Before you start

  • Make sure the unit was installed with an Ingenico-validated cable on the single rear port and an Ingenico-approved power source.
  • Note exactly what the screen shows: nothing at all, or a prompt from the payment application.
  • If possible, have a known-good unit of the same model nearby for a swap test.

Steps

  1. Flip the terminal and check the cable connector is fully inserted into the rear port. Expected: the connector is seated to the stop and any retaining screws are tight.
  2. Restart the terminal by disconnecting and reconnecting its power source. Expected: it boots to the application screen.
  3. If the terminal is attached directly to a PC or register, turn the host off and on. Expected: the POS software finds the PIN pad again after the host restarts.
  4. Swap in another working unit of the same model if you have one. Expected: this tells you whether the fault is the terminal, the cable, the POS or the power supply.
  5. Check the power source. Lane/3000 on 5 V USB loses Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, audio, camera and biometric features, and PoE modules do not run on 5 V. For touchscreen or signature trouble on any model, confirm the correct power supply first. Expected: features return once the configuration has the right supply or a 12 V powered cable.

If that did not work

  • If the terminal boots and shows a message from the payment application (for example a waiting or connecting prompt), the physical layer is fine and the next steps belong to the application and host integration. Contact support with the exact wording.
  • If the screen flashes "Alert Irruption!", the device has detected tampering and cannot be used. Contact support immediately; do not try to clear it.

Stop and contact support if

  • The screen repeatedly flashes "Alert Irruption!": the terminal has detected tampering and will not work. Stop and contact support immediately.
  • The terminal powers up but shows a prompt from the payment application (for example a waiting or connecting message) and the physical checks above pass: the remaining steps belong to the payment application and host integration. Contact support with the exact text on screen.
  • Any request to open the unit, remove the module screws for reasons other than SAM/microSD access, or alter the hardware: do not; Ingenico says modification without written permission voids approval and warranty.

Contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, the host interface (USB, Ethernet or RS232), the power source, the payment application in use and the exact message on the screen.

Notes

  • Ingenico's user guides contain no screen-state wording such as "waiting for connection"; those prompts come from the payment application or host integration, so this guide stops at the physical checks.
  • The Lane/7000 is not listed because no Ingenico user guide for it was found on ingenico.com; its troubleshooting section could not be verified. The same checks are likely to apply (unverified, inference).
  • Network settings (IP address, DHCP, COM port, baud rate) live in the payment application or admin menu and are not covered by the Ingenico user guides read for this article.
