Exact messages this covers

  • Alert Irruption!

Check first

  • Do the keys respond, or is the screen frozen?
  • Is the Lane/3000 powered by its own supply, by PoE or by the POS USB port?
  • What exact message is on the screen?

To reset an Ingenico Lane/3000, hold the yellow key and the dot key together for about 2 seconds and let it reboot. If the keys do not respond, unplug its power source and plug it back in: the Lane/3000 has no battery, so removing power switches it off.

A reboot is not a factory reset. It does not need a password and it is the same as the power-off and power-on that Ingenico documents for the Lane/3000. Never try a factory reset on an injected Lane/3000: it wipes the encryption keys.

Before you start

  • The Lane/3000 can be powered three ways: its own power supply, Power over Ethernet (PoE), or the register's USB port (5 V or 12 V). To power-cycle it, remove whichever one feeds it.
  • On 5 V USB power, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio, camera and biometric options are switched off by design, so those features missing after a restart is not a fault.
  • Write down any message on screen before restarting.

Steps

  1. If a sale is on screen and the keys respond, press the red key to cancel it. Expected: the PIN pad returns to idle.
  2. Hold the yellow key (CLEAR) and the dot key together for about 2 seconds. Expected: the screen goes blank and the Lane/3000 reboots.
  3. If the keys do not respond, disconnect its power source (power supply from the outlet, or the PoE or USB cable), then reconnect it. Expected: it switches off with power removed and boots when power returns.
  4. If it still shows nothing, flip it over and check the cable is fully inserted into the single port on the back, then power it again. Expected: the connector is seated and the terminal powers up.
  5. If it is cabled straight to a PC or register and the POS still cannot see it, turn the PC or register off and back on. Expected: the POS software finds the PIN pad again.

If that did not work

Ingenico's next check is a swap: if you have another working Lane/3000, try it on the same cable and register to see whether the fault is the terminal, the cable, the POS or the power supply. If the screen flashes "Alert Irruption!", stop and contact support. Otherwise contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, payment application, processor and the exact message on screen.

The Lane/3000 is end of life in North America (end of support 31 May 2027); its successor is the Lane/3600.

Stop and contact support if

  • The screen repeatedly flashes "Alert Irruption!": tampering detected. Stop, do not restart it repeatedly, and contact support.
  • It freezes again after every restart or never boots: contact support. Do not attempt a factory reset; on an injected Lane/3000 it wipes the encryption keys and the unit must be re-injected.
  • A menu asks for a password: stop. Restarting does not need any password.

Contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, payment application, processor and the exact message on screen.

Notes

  • Ingenico's Lane/3000 guide documents only the power-cycle method (connect or disconnect the power supply) and the troubleshooting line "Restart the device". The yellow + dot key combination comes from Worldline's merchant FAQ, which names the Lane series; behaviour may vary with the payment application.
  • The screen text "This lane closed" is not mentioned in any Ingenico document read. It is not explained here; see the gap log.
  • Ingenico North America ended sale of the Lane/3000 (EOL effective 31 May 2024) with end of support on 31 May 2027; the Lane/3600 is the named successor.
