Where to download Ingenico's official USB driver for the Lane/3000, Lane/3600 and other Ingenico terminals, how to install it on Windows, and how to check it worked.
- Applies to
- Ingenico Lane/3000, Lane/3600, Lane/5000, Lane/7000, Lane/8000, Desk/2600, Desk/5000, Move/5000, Link/2500

Check first
- Did your POS or payment software vendor ask for the Ingenico USB driver, or a fixed COM port?
- Is an older Ingenico USB driver already listed under add/remove programs?
- Does the terminal appear in Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT) when plugged in?
Ingenico publishes its USB driver for Windows on its "Ingenico USB Driver application and Installation guide" page; download the Driver Installer there, run it as an administrator, then plug in the terminal and find its COM port in Device Manager. The same driver covers the Lane/3000, Lane/3600, Lane/5000, Lane/7000, Lane/8000, Desk/5000, Desk/2600, Move/5000 and Link/2500.
The driver gives a USB-connected terminal a virtual COM port on the PC, and can pin that port number so it does not change between USB sockets. You need it when your POS or payment software talks to the terminal over a COM port and Windows does not already provide one, or when your POS vendor asks for it. Many setups never need it.
Before you start
- You need Windows 10 or 11 and administrator rights.
- Install the driver only on the PC. Nothing is loaded onto the terminal.
- Ingenico's installer removes the old Windows usbser driver and the "TeliumUsbPortUpdater" tool by default; do not run TeliumUsbPortUpdater alongside the new driver.
Steps
- Download the Driver Installer from Ingenico's USB driver page and unzip it. Expected: you have IngenicoUSBDrivers_3.40_setup_SIGNED (the number is the package version).
- In add/remove programs, look for "Ingenico USB Drivers Package". If the same or a newer version is installed, uninstall it there (never from Device Manager) and restart the PC. Expected: no conflicting driver package remains.
- Run the installer: Next, accept the default folder, leave Force COM Port off unless your POS vendor gave you a port number, choose whether to remove the Microsoft usbser driver, then Install. Expected: the wizard finishes without errors.
- Plug in the terminal, open Device Manager and look under Ports (COM & LPT). Expected: an "Ingenico ... Comm Port (COMn)" entry appears; note the COM number.
- Enter that COM port in your POS or payment software if it asks for one. Expected: the POS software connects to the terminal.
If that did not work
- To check the driver is installed, look for "Ingenico USB Drivers Package xx.yy" in add/remove programs. If there is no "Force COM port" tab on the port's properties, Windows is still using its own driver, not Ingenico's.
- To roll back to a previous driver, Ingenico's manual uses Device Manager: right-click the terminal under Universal Serial Bus controllers, choose Update Driver, then pick the earlier driver from the list.
- If the terminal does not appear at all, check the USB cable is fully seated at both ends and restart the terminal.
- Still stuck: contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, payment application, processor, Windows version and what Device Manager shows.

Stop and contact support if
- The POS vendor's own instructions name a different driver or setup: follow the vendor, or contact support before mixing drivers.
- Any instruction to load software or files onto the terminal itself: stop. The driver is installed on the PC only; terminal software and keys are loaded by Allstar or the processor.
- A Windows "System Settings Change" restart prompt appears every time the terminal is plugged in: Force COM Port is set without this terminal's ID or a default port. Contact support or your POS vendor before changing it further.
Contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, payment application, processor, Windows version and what Device Manager shows for the terminal.
Notes
- The installer manual on Ingenico's page is for v3.36 while the download is v3.40; screens may differ slightly.
- The manual lists Windows 10 and 11. Ingenico's Portuguese guide says newer Windows versions may install a working driver automatically when the terminal is plugged in, so the Ingenico driver is not always needed. Whether a given POS needs it is set by the POS or payment software vendor (inference; no Ingenico document states which POS products require it).
- Ingenico also publishes a separate "Native Driver Installation" guide (27 Oct 2023) that uses a different install method; it is not covered here.
- The terminal list in the manual includes Lane3000 (PID 0x0084), Lane3600 (0x00A2), Lane5000, Lane7000, Lane8000, Desk5000, Desk2600, Move5000 and Link2500 / Link2500 LE.
