Ingenico Move/5000: install the battery, charge it, and use the base

The Move/5000 ships with its battery disconnected. This guide gives Ingenico's steps to fit the battery, charge it on the base or with the direct 5 V supply, what the charging icon looks like, charge times (50% in about 1.5 h, full in about 4 h), and the checks when the terminal will not turn on.

Check first

  • Was the battery pack connected and installed (it ships disconnected)?
  • Is the terminal being charged on its base or through the DC jack on the left side?
  • Does the battery symbol flash or animate when power is connected?
  • Where is charging taking place: near a heat source, in sun, or in an enclosed space?

This guide covers fitting and charging the battery in an Ingenico Move/5000 and using the base, following Ingenico's 2026 user guide.

Before you start

  • The Move/5000 ships with the battery pack disconnected. It must be connected before the terminal will run on battery.
  • Use only the Ingenico power adapter from the box.
  • If you have a base, put it on a flat surface near mains and, depending on the base model, near the phone or Ethernet point.

Steps

  1. With the terminal unplugged from mains, turn it over, push the trapdoor button to unclip it and remove the trapdoor. Expected: the battery compartment and its connector are visible.
  2. Plug the battery connector in following the keyed guide until it locks, seat the pack, and close the trapdoor. Expected: the connector clicks and the door clips shut.
  3. First charge: place the terminal on its base, or plug the Ingenico 5 V adapter into the DC jack on the left side. Charge between 0 and 50 C, ideally 15 to 25 C, away from heat. Expected: the battery symbol flashes or animates. About 50% in 1.5 h, full in about 4 h.
  4. Daily use: return the terminal to the base between sales. Charging is automatic. Expected: the battery symbol animates on the base.
  5. Power off with the Function key plus the yellow key held for about one second; power on with the green key. Expected: shutdown or boot. An empty battery plus removal from the base causes an automatic shutdown.

If that did not work

Ingenico's checks when the terminal does not turn on: confirm the battery is connected and not discharged (a fully discharged battery can take a long time to recover), then connect the terminal to its power supply or put it on a powered base and wait. If the symbol never animates on either the base or the direct supply, contact support. Battery replacement must use an Ingenico-authorised pack; remove the terminal from the base and power it off before opening the trapdoor.

Stop and contact support if

  • The screen flashes "Alert Irruption!": tamper detected, stop and contact support.
  • The battery is swollen, damaged, or not an Ingenico-approved pack: do not use it; Ingenico warns of explosion risk with non-approved batteries.
  • A replacement battery is needed: use only an Ingenico-authorised battery; Ingenico's replacement steps require the terminal to be off and off the base first.

Contact Allstar support with the serial number, whether the unit charges on a base or by cable, what the battery symbol shows when power is connected, and how long it was left to charge.

Notes

  • The guide quotes a Li-ion 3100 mAh battery; the datasheet lists 2200 mAh as an option. Capacity depends on the model and use, per Ingenico.
  • The guide gives charge times for the 1.5 A supply; the DC jack section says the Ingenico supply delivers 5 V. No other supply ratings are given.
  • Ingenico's base is described only by its contacts and options (charger standard; Ethernet, modem, Bluetooth, RS232, USB optional). The guide has no base-specific setup steps beyond placing the terminal on it.
  • Ingenico announced end of life for Move/5000 part numbers with index revision V or later: EOL 30 Sep 2024, last buy order 30 Sep 2025, last ship 31 Dec 2025, end of support 31 Dec 2030. Successor named by Ingenico: AXIUM DX8000 Portable.
