Ingenico Move/5000: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G options, SIM installation and base connections
Which radios a Move/5000 can have (4G/3G with dual SIM, Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5 GHz, Bluetooth), where the SIM cards go and how to fit them, and what the base can add (Ethernet, modem, Bluetooth). Network names, passwords and APNs are set in the payment application, not in Ingenico's hardware guide.

Check first
- Which variant is this unit: WAN (cellular), LAN (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) or Multicom?
- If cellular, is a SIM installed in SIM 1 (or SIM 2 on dual-SIM units) and has it been activated?
- If a base is used, which base model is it (charger only, or with Ethernet, modem or Bluetooth)?
- Has the payment application been configured for the chosen connection?
This guide explains the communication hardware on an Ingenico Move/5000, how to fit a SIM, and how the base fits in. The actual network settings live in the payment application.
Before you start
- Find out which variant you have: WAN (4G and/or 3G), LAN (Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth) or Multicom (both).
- For cellular, have an activated SIM. For Wi-Fi, have the network name and credentials and the payment application's instructions for entering them.
- If a base will carry the connection (Ethernet or modem), place it near the matching wall socket.
Steps
- Confirm the variant from the datasheet options and the unit's build: 4G/3G with fallback (WAN), Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth (LAN), or both (Multicom); 2 SIM is standard, 1 SIM optional. Expected: you know what this unit can physically do.
- For a SIM: power off (Function key plus yellow key, about one second), lift the terminal off the base, turn it over and unclip the trapdoor. Expected: the SAM/SIM compartment is open; slots are engraved SIM 1, SIM 2 (or SAM 3), SAM 1, SAM 2.
- Insert the SIM into SIM 1 (or SIM 2) with the cut corner matching the engraving, close the trapdoor, press the green key to start. Expected: the SIM seats without force; the trapdoor stays fitted during use.
- For a base link: put the base on a flat surface near mains and the network or phone socket, connect that cable to the base, then sit the terminal on the base. Expected: the battery symbol animates; communication through the base is available once the application is set for it.
- Set the network in the payment application (Wi-Fi credentials, Bluetooth pairing, or APN). Expected: the application shows the connection as up. Without the application's own instructions, stop and contact support.
If that did not work
- A terminal that does not turn on at all is a power issue, not a network one: see the battery and charging guide.
- If the application reports no network after the SIM is fitted, confirm with the carrier or processor that the SIM is active and that the unit's bands match the carrier. Ingenico does not state per-country carrier compatibility.
- Do not try supervisor or default codes in the application's connection menus. Contact support with the exact screen wording.

Stop and contact support if
- The screen flashes "Alert Irruption!": tamper detected, stop and contact support.
- The payment application's connection menu asks for a password or supervisor code you do not have: stop, contact support; do not try default codes.
- On an aircraft, or in a fuel depot, chemical plant or blasting site: Ingenico requires the battery to be removed on aircraft and restricts radio use in explosion areas.
Contact Allstar support with the serial number, the variant (WAN/LAN/Multicom), whether a SIM is installed and activated, the base model if any, and the payment application in use.
Notes
- Ingenico's hardware guide contains no menu steps for joining a Wi-Fi network, pairing Bluetooth or entering an APN; those depend on the payment application. Step 5 is a pointer, not a procedure.
- The guide names the base as "Move/Base Eth/Mod/BT" in its FCC Part 68 section; the datasheet lists base options as charger (standard) with RS232, USB host/slave, modem, Ethernet 10/100 and Bluetooth as options. No separate base user guide was found on ingenico.com.
- The user guide lists the LTE, WCDMA and GSM bands supported; carrier compatibility in a given country is not stated by Ingenico.
- Ingenico announced end of life for Move/5000 part numbers with index revision V or later (EOL 30 Sep 2024, end of support 31 Dec 2030).
