Verifone V400c: load a paper roll and clear a paper jam
How to load 57 mm thermal paper in a Verifone V400c or V200c, which way the roll goes, and what to do when the printer jams or stops printing.

Check first
- Is the paper roll installed so the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll?
- Is the receipt blank (roll in backwards) or is nothing feeding (jam or empty)?
- Is the paper cover fully clicked shut?
This guide shows how to load a paper roll in a Verifone V400c (and V200c, which uses the same printer), and what to check when the printer jams or prints nothing.
Before you start
- Use single-ply thermal paper, 57 mm wide, up to 40 mm in diameter. Verifone warns that poor-quality paper can jam the printer and recommends Verifone-approved paper.
- Do not load a roll with folds, wrinkles, tears or holes at the edges. Store thermal paper somewhere dry and dark.
- A pink line on the edge of the paper means the roll is almost finished; there is enough left for at least one more transaction.
Steps
- Hook a finger under the latch at the back of the terminal and lift to open the paper cover. Expected: the cover swings open.
- Remove any partial roll or torn paper. Expected: the tray and feed path are empty.
- Loosen the glued leading edge of the new roll (or remove the protective strip) and unwind past the glue residue. Expected: a clean, straight leading edge.
- Hold the roll so the paper feeds from the bottom, drop it into the tray, and pull the paper up past the glue residue. Expected: paper comes off the underside of the roll with a short tail outside the tray.
- Press directly on the cover until it clicks, leaving a little paper outside the door. Expected: the cover is latched. Pressing on the cover rather than the paper protects the print roller.
- Tear the tail against the serrated strip. Expected: the next receipt prints clearly.
If that did not work
- Blank receipts: the roll is usually in backwards. Reload so the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll.
- Paper jam: open the cover, remove the damaged paper and clear the feed mechanism, then load a fresh roll. If it jams again, the paper quality is the likely cause; try a new roll of better paper.
- Nothing prints: check the terminal has power, that the printer is not out of paper, that the roll is installed correctly, and that the print roller and paper dust cover are in place. If it still does not print, contact Allstar support.

Stop and contact support if
- Paper keeps jamming after a fresh roll of good quality paper: stop and contact Allstar support.
- The print roller or paper dust cover is missing or damaged: do not operate the printer.
- The printer does not print with power connected, paper correctly loaded and the cover latched.
Contact Allstar support with the model (V400c or V200c), serial number, payment application, processor, the paper you are using, and what the receipt looks like (blank, faint, nothing feeds).
Notes
- Verifone's V200c and V400c guides share one setup section and state the printer and paper loading are identical for both. The V400c guide notes market variants may differ slightly.
- The Verifone-listed replacement roll is 57 mm x 38 mm; the printer accepts up to 40 mm diameter.
