How the UX300 fits a Verifone UX setup

The UX300 is the "master" unit. Add the Verifone UX100 PIN pad for PIN entry and on-screen prompts; it plugs into the UX300 by USB. Add the UX400 contactless reader for tap-to-pay and mobile wallets; it has no software of its own and is driven by the UX300 over its antenna cables. The UX300 also works without a PIN pad for chip, magstripe or contactless transactions that do not need PIN entry. (The UX301 pairs with the UX401.)

Does the UX300 accept contactless payments?

Not by itself. Contactless is added by pairing the UX400 reader, which the UX300 drives. The UX301 pairs with the UX401.

Do I need the UX100 PIN pad?

Only if you need PIN entry or an on-screen prompt. The UX300 works with or without the UX100.
