Ingenico Lane/5000, Lane/7000, Lane/8000: connections, power supply and stand mounting

How the Lane/5000, Lane/7000 and Lane/8000 connect to a host through one rear multipoint port (USB, Ethernet or RS232), which Ingenico power sources are allowed (external PSU, PoE 802.3af, 12 V USB), the Ingenico cable part numbers, and how the units mount on a Universal Payment Mount or stand pole.

Check first

  • Which host interface does the integration use: USB, Ethernet or RS232?
  • Will the unit be powered by an external Ingenico power supply, by PoE, or by a 12 V powered USB cable from the register?
  • Is the unit going on a Universal Payment Mount stand pole, a wall, or a counter?

This guide covers the physical hookup of the Ingenico Lane/5000, Lane/7000 and Lane/8000: the single rear port, the Ingenico cables, the allowed power sources and stand mounting. Payment-application and host settings are outside its scope.

Before you start

  • Ask your POS or payment-application provider which interface the terminal must use: USB, Ethernet or RS232. All three models support each through the one rear port.
  • Use only cables Ingenico validated for the model and only an Ingenico-approved power source. The guides say a look-alike supply can damage the terminal.
  • Decide where the unit will live: Universal Payment Mount stand pole, wall or counter.

Steps

  1. Find the single rear port (the multipoint connector). Power and data run through it. Expected: one multi-pin port; optionally a USB-A host port under a cover on the Lane/5000 and Lane/8000.
  2. Choose the Ingenico cable for the interface: RS232 296114811 (2 m) / 296114928 (5 m); USB 296111170 (2 m) / 296114303 (4 m); USB-powered 12 V 296178419 (2 m) / 296116381 (5 m, Lane/5000); Ethernet 296114829 (2 m). Lane/5000 only: Com Box kit 296148891 (2 USB, 1 RS232, 2 Ethernet, power lead). Expected: a validated cable. iSC and iPP cables are mostly compatible, but check with your reseller when swapping out an iSC480, iSC250 or iSC Touch 250.
  3. Choose the power source. Lane/5000: Ingenico 8 VDC 2 A, 8 VDC 3 A or 12 VDC 2.5 A supply, PoE, or USB. Lane/8000: external PSU, PoE, or 12 VDC USB (8 to 12 VDC, up to 16 W). Lane/7000 (datasheet): powered USB 12 V, powered RS232 12 V, optional PoE 802.3af, optional external PSU. PoE must be 802.3af class 0 (12.95 W max), mode A or B. Expected: power source, cable and model all match.
  4. With the power supply disconnected from the cable, flip the terminal, plug the cable into the rear port, connect the far end to the supply and the host, then plug the supply into the mains. Expected: the terminal boots. Add the optional retaining screws if the installation needs them.
  5. Mount the unit: Lane/8000 slides down onto the stand pole adaptor until it clicks (it is not meant to sit flat as-is). Lane/5000 uses the optional stand pole trap door (screw CBZ M2.5 x 8, PN 192014928) on a Universal Payment Mount pole, or a flat surface, wall or stand no higher than 2 m. Expected: the cardholder can tilt or swivel the unit to hide PIN entry; the unit is 30 cm (12 in) or more from an active security-tag deactivation pad and away from monitors and magnets.

If that did not work

  • Dead terminal: check the connector is fully inserted into the back, restart the device, swap with a known-good unit of the same model to isolate device, cable, POS or power supply, and power-cycle the host if the terminal is directly attached to it.
  • Touchscreen or signature capture not working: Ingenico's first check is that the correct power supply is in use; the second is to replace the stylus (resistive and capacitive stylus types are not interchangeable).
  • "Alert Irruption!" on screen means tamper detection. Stop and contact support.

Stop and contact support if

  • The screen flashes "Alert Irruption!": tamper detected. Stop and contact support.
  • Someone asks to plug a standard HDMI/video cable into the rear port: do not; Ingenico says the main port must never be used for video.
  • The warranty label (underside, or under the Lane/5000 trapdoor) is torn or removed: warranty is void per Ingenico; contact support.

Notes

  • No Lane/7000 user guide is published on ingenico.com; the FCC-filing mirrors (fccid.io, fcc.report) returned HTTP 403 during this pass. Lane/7000 facts here come from the official datasheets only. Cable part numbers are from the Lane/5000 and Lane/8000 guides and are not confirmed for the Lane/7000.
  • The Lane/8000 guide's power-supply caution refers to the "Lane/7000" power supply; this appears to be shared text. Treat the Lane/7000 and Lane/8000 as needing their own Ingenico-supplied PSU.
  • The Lane/5000 guide covers the Lane/5000 LE model. Ingenico lists the Lane/5000 as end of life (end of support reported by a processor as 3 June 2026; not confirmed on ingenico.com during this pass).
  • The datasheets mark the external power supply as an option, meaning it is not always in the box; confirm what ships with each order.
