The Ingenico AXIUM SX5000 is an Android 14 self-service payment terminal built into the front of a kiosk, EV charger, vending machine, parking pay station or self-checkout. It takes contactless cards, mobile wallets and QR code payments, with PIN entry on a certified 5-inch touchscreen, in a single compact unit rated for outdoor use.

Where the SX5000 fits

The AXIUM SX series is Ingenico's Android generation of unattended terminals. The SX5000 is the contactless-only model: no chip or magstripe slot, which means fewer moving parts and a slim front profile. If your site must accept chip and swipe cards, choose the AXIUM SX7000, which adds a chip reader with shutter and a magstripe reader in the same footprint. Frequently asked questions

Does the AXIUM SX5000 accept chip or swipe cards?

No. The SX5000 is contactless only (EMV Contactless L1 3.x, ISO/IEC 14443) plus QR code payments through its camera. Ingenico lists chip and magstripe reading only for the SX7000.

Can customers enter a PIN on the SX5000?

Yes. PIN is entered on the 5 in touchscreen. Ingenico states the device is PIN on Glass certified, and the PCI SSC list shows touch-screen PIN entry for its approvals.

Can the SX5000 be installed outdoors?

Yes. Ingenico rates it IP65 and IK09, CE Outdoor certified, with an operating range of -20 to +65 C (-4 to 149 F).

What size cutout does the SX5000 need?

The current US/Canada datasheet lists a 107.5 x 84 mm installation cutout, 25.4 mm kiosk depth and 31.5 mm front protrusion. It mounts from outside the kiosk and fits the EVA EPS v2 Standard Door Module. Earlier datasheets listed a 104.5 x 81 mm cutout, so confirm against the current drawing before cutting panels.

How does the SX5000 connect to a kiosk or vending machine?

It has Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and optional 4G, plus USB-A host, USB-C device, RS232 (RJ11), MDB 4.3 slave, HDMI for an external screen, and isolated I/O (2 inputs, 2 outputs). An optional MDB box is listed as an accessory.

What is the PCI approval status of the SX5000?

The PCI SSC approved devices list shows two SX5000 approvals: 4-20380 under PTS 6.x, approval expires 30 Apr 2032, and 4-20387 under PTS 7.x, approval expires 30 Apr 2035.
