Exact messages this covers

  • Alert Irruption!

Check first

  • Is it a Lane/7000 or a Lane/8000 (model name on the front)?
  • Do the keys or touchscreen respond at all?
  • Is it powered by its own supply, PoE or USB?
  • What exact message is on screen?

To reset an Ingenico Lane/7000 or Lane/8000, hold the yellow key and the dot key together for about 2 seconds and let it reboot. If nothing responds, remove its power (power supply, PoE cable or USB cable) and reconnect it: these PIN pads have no battery, so removing power switches them off.

A restart is not a factory reset and needs no password. Never try a factory reset on an injected terminal: it wipes the encryption keys and the unit must be re-injected.

Before you start

  • Ingenico documents three ways to power the Lane/8000: its own power supply, PoE (IEEE 802.3af, class 0), or a 12 V USB cable. The Lane/7000 datasheet lists 12 V powered USB, 12 V powered RS232, PoE (option) and an external supply (option). Power-cycle whichever one feeds your unit.
  • Write down any message on screen before you restart.

Steps

  1. If a sale is on screen and the keys respond, press the red key to cancel it. Expected: the terminal returns to idle.
  2. Hold the yellow key (CLEAR) and the dot key together for about 2 seconds. Expected: the screen goes blank and the terminal reboots.
  3. If nothing responds, disconnect its power source (power supply, PoE Ethernet cable, or powered USB or RS232 cable), then reconnect it. Expected: it switches off, then boots when power returns.
  4. If the screen stays dark, check the cable is fully inserted into the port on the back, then power it again. Expected: the connector is seated and the terminal powers up.
  5. If it is cabled straight to a PC or register and the POS still cannot see it, turn the PC or register off and back on. Expected: the POS software finds the terminal again.

If that did not work

Swap in another working unit of the same model on the same cable and register: Ingenico uses this to tell whether the fault is the terminal, the cable, the POS or the power supply. For touchscreen or signature problems, Ingenico's first check is that the correct power supply is in use. If "Alert Irruption!" appears, stop and contact support. Otherwise contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, payment application, processor and the exact message on screen.

Stop and contact support if

  • The screen repeatedly flashes "Alert Irruption!": tampering detected. Stop, do not restart it repeatedly, and contact support.
  • It freezes after every restart or never boots: contact support. Do not attempt a factory reset; on an injected terminal it wipes the encryption keys.
  • A menu asks for a password: stop. A restart needs no password.

Contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, payment application, processor and the exact message on screen.

Notes

  • Ingenico publishes no Lane/7000 user guide; the power-cycle method is taken from the Lane/8000 guide, whose safety caution itself refers to the Lane/7000 power supply. Lane/7000 power options are from its datasheet.
  • The yellow + dot key combination comes from Worldline's merchant FAQ, which names the Lane series generally, not these models; the Ingenico guide documents only connecting or disconnecting power.
