Exact messages this covers

  • Alert Irruption!

Check first

  • How will it connect to the POS: USB, Ethernet or RS232?
  • Will it be powered by its own supply, by PoE (through an accessory) or by the register's USB port?
  • Is the warranty label on the bottom intact and are there signs of tampering?

To set up an Ingenico Lane/3600, connect its single cable to the port on the back while the power is unplugged, connect the other end to your POS and power supply, plug in the power, then slide the terminal onto its stand pole until it clicks. The Lane/3600 is designed to sit on a stand pole adaptor, not flat on the counter.

This guide follows Ingenico's Lane/3600 user guide. The Lane/3600 is the successor to the Lane/3000.

Before you start

  • Power options: Ingenico's 8 V 3 A desktop supply (part 296276207, model AM24W-080B-R), PoE through an accessory that supplies 10 V, or the register's USB port (5 V or 12 V). On 5 V USB power some features are switched off (Ethernet) and others reduced (backlight, buzzer).
  • Use only the supplied power supply or the register's limited power source. A supply with similar ratings can still damage the terminal.
  • POS connection: high-speed USB, Ethernet or RS232, each with its own Ingenico cable (USB cable 296111170AC, 2 m; USB 5 V cable 296111170AD). Never connect a video cable to the rear port.
  • Place it away from heat, dust and magnetic fields, and at least 30 cm (12 in) from an active security tag deactivation pad. Indoor use only.
  • Power on and off by connecting or disconnecting the power supply. Pressing the green key puts the Lane/3600 into shutdown mode; it then has to be powered on again.

Steps

  1. Unpack the terminal and check for tampering: keypad firmly in place, no unusual wires on any port or the card reader, warranty label on the bottom intact. Expected: the terminal is undamaged and the label is intact.
  2. With the power supply unplugged, flip the terminal and connect the cable to the single rear port. Optionally fit the two M2.5 x 8 screws. Expected: the connector is fully seated.
  3. Connect the other end to the PC or register and, if used, to the power supply unit. Expected: the cable is connected at both ends; nothing is in the wall yet.
  4. Plug the power supply into the wall (skip if powered by USB or PoE). Expected: the terminal powers up and shows its payment application screen.
  5. Slide the Lane/3600 down onto the stand pole adaptor until it clicks. Expected: it is held firmly and can be tilted or swivelled so PIN entry is hidden from others.

If that did not work

Ingenico's checks for a Lane/3600 that does not work: make sure the connector is fully inserted into the back, restart it by disconnecting and reconnecting power, swap with another working Lane/3600 to isolate the terminal, cable, POS or power supply, and if it is connected directly to a PC or register, turn that host off and on. On a Windows PC, the POS software may also need the Ingenico USB driver (see the USB driver guide). If "Alert Irruption!" appears, do not use the terminal and contact support. Otherwise contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, payment application, processor and the exact message on screen.

Stop and contact support if

  • The screen repeatedly flashes "Alert Irruption!": tampering detected. Do not use the terminal; contact support immediately.
  • Signs of tampering or a torn warranty label on arrival: stop and contact support before connecting it.
  • The terminal asks for a password or key loading: stop and contact support. Terminals ordered injected or programmed arrive ready.

Contact Allstar support with the model, serial number, payment application, processor and the exact message on screen.

Notes

  • Ingenico's guide does not give a first-boot sequence or screen states; what appears after power-up depends on the payment application.
  • The guide's display line reads "2.8 inch backlit LCD, QVGA (800 x 480 pixels)"; QVGA is normally 320 x 240. Not used in the steps.
  • Ingenico says most iSC and iPP cables fit the Lane/3600 but advises checking compatibility before reusing cables from an iSC480, iSC250 or iSC Touch 250.
  • The guide's Shutdown mode line says pressing the green button powers the unit off; it does not say how long to press.
